A charming village on the Rideau River located just 25 kilometers from Downtown Ottawa. Manotick got its name from the Ojibway for word for “Island in the River”. Found immediately south of Barrhaven and Riverside South, it’s a community of approximately 3,000 homes within easy commuting distance of Ottawa.
Manotick is an attractive, scenic village that features excellent fishing, boating, golf courses and waterfront parks. The village’s beauty is certainly enhanced by the Rideau River which flows through its centre. Manotick offers great variety in terms of local commerce, located in several malls and along Manotick’s Main Street. There is a choice of elementary schools both public and Catholic. The area also features a medical centre with 10 full time physicians on staff.
Real Estate in the area consist largely of single family homes on larger lots, mostly on municipal services after some retrofitting over the last few years. Minto has had plans to build a large development in the area but past attempts have met with opposition from local residents.
